My first Misi blog
What an original title eh? hehe... well, it IS 1am...what else can you expect? My Husband has been messing about with his new Epos equipment (that's a till or cash register, to you & me!), so I took the opportunity to list another art print in my shop. :)
It's a 5 x 7" reproduction of one of my favourite paintings. 'Kuan Yin' (The long title is 'Kuan yin's garden' :) ) http://www.misi.me.uk/product_desc.php?user_id=9782 I painted it last year as a gift for a good friend of mine in the US. She is a Reiki master, & was setting up a Reiki/healing room at her home. I was inspired to paint something especially for her, & Kuan Yin seemed to jump out at me.
Now I should probably point out that I live a somewhat 'metaphysical' lifestyle. I do meditation & am constantly working on improving my intuition & 'connection' to spirit..the universe..whatever you want to call it. :) I have a personal connection to certain deities, including 'White Tara' (see my painting of her here... http://www.juliaguthrie.co.uk/whitetara.htm ). So, back to my story...
I had heard of Kuan Yin, but didn't know a great deal about her, so I got out my Doreen Virtue book on Archangels & Ascended Masters to find out about some of the symbolism she emboddies. (I always like to include symbolism particular to the subject, in my art to give it more depth) She is the Goddess of Compassion amongst other things & seemed very apt for a healing room. ( http://www.juliaguthrie.co.uk/kuanyin.htm ) I also picked up the image of roses. which aren't associated with Kuan Yin traditionally.
I emailed my friend to ask if Kuan yin & roses meant anything to her, & she sent me back a very excited message to say that yes indeed... Kuan Yin is regularly called upon by her Reiki group & the scent of Roses always accompanies her (Only with this particular Reiki group it would seem!). I was pretty happy with the way my intuition was working that day I can tell you! lol I also included a few other symbols in the painting that are personal to my friend, such as butterflies & Lilacs. The Original now hangs in a Reiki room in Florida!:)
So, there you have it...my first blog post...& all thanks to my Husband being a total workaholic & staying up late to play with his new shop toys! LOL
Thanks for reading... I shall be back soon ;) But if you're interested in reading about more of my art inspiration & seeing some older WIP's, you're more than welcome to visit my regular Art blog at http://eastofthesunart.blogspot.com/ Nighty night all xxxx
